Mapping your Story :: a FREE Virtual Workshop
11-12pm PST
in partnership with 18th Street Arts Center's Arts Learning Lab
Join us for this one-of-a kind interactive, creative workshop. Together we will create a map charting the landscape of our personal stories. We will explore this process by writing, drawing & moving. Ultimately we will create a multi-centered map that illuminates what is often invisible within us. All movement abilities and ages welcome.
Materials: Paper, pencil, colored pencils/markers/crayon & of course your body.

Dance for Veterans Community Dance Day 10:15-11:30am PST
With funding from Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs & the California Arts Council, we are hosting a free, public, & virtual Dance for Veterans class. Join us to breathe, dance, create & meet some of the veterans and clinicians involved in this program. All abilities and ages welcome.

Mapping our Stories :: every Friday on Instagram starting April 9
Each week we will release a short film that amplifies Black, Indigenous and Latinx voices and histories of Santa Monica. Each film will be accompanied by resources for further research and exploration. Suarez Dance Theater is honored to be working with these artists creating in collaboration with film maker Leonardo Rivas: storyteller/historian: Julia Bogany, choreographer/performer: Bernard Brown/ bbmoves, poet/songwriter: Jessa Calderon and dance group Primera Generación Dance Collective's Alfonso Cervera, Rosa Rodriguez-Frazier, Irvin Manuel Gonzalez and Patricia "Patty" Huerta and film maker Leonardo Rivas.
