In 2012 under the auspices of ArtworxLA (formerly The HeArt Project), Christine Suarez collaborated with  Arleta Cal-Safe students, a continuation high school for pregnant or parenting students, to create The Motherhood Exchange Project over a period of 10 weeks. Students drew from their own experiences as young mothers: mining the joys, challenges and obstacles. They performed their work along side Suarez’s Mother.
